Operations Level - Swift Water Rescue
Operating in a dynamic, fast moving rescue situation takes precision, teamwork and strong skills. Building on the basic foundation learned in the Awareness level program, Swift Water Rescue Operations level is a 16-hour mix of classroom and in-water practical applicaion of water bourn technical rescue techniques.
Operations emphasizes a team approach to properly effect a Swift Water Rescue in a safe, effective manner.
This course introduces teh Swift Water Rescuer to basic water rescue skills including:
Basic Swift Water Ropes and Knots
Proper Entry
Proper Swimming Techniques
Basic Shore-based Rescue Skills
Upstream Spotter
Downstream backup
Throw Bags
Simple Wading Techniques
Operations is NFPA 1670-compliant and a must for any rescuer who could potentially find themselves downstream in a rescue situation.
Pre-Requisites are Swiftwater Rescue Awareness program; Recommended: Basic Ropes & Knots, Good Physical Condition, Strong Swimming Skills.
